FAQs

How can I schedule or cancel an appointment?

Call the main clinic office in Spencer at 712-580-2022 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. You will receive the first available scheduling time at one of our four locations nearest your home. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we would appreciate a 24-hour notice as a courtesy to our staff and other patients waiting for an appointment.

How do I get prescriptions and refills?

If you need a refill on one of your prescriptions from an Orthopaedics, P.C. physician, please contact your pharmacy and they will fax us a request if you are out of refills. Please allow up to 24 hours for us to refill your prescription and we will be happy to assist you. If you need a new prescription, we will call it in to your pharmacy of choice at the time it is prescribed by one of our physicians. There are some prescriptions that can’t be called into your pharmacy, therefore you will need to pick up a paper prescription from our office to take to your pharmacy.

What should I do in the event of an emergency?

Call 911 immediately if your emergency is life-threatening. Call our office any time during clinic hours (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday) if it is non-life threatening. After hours, please call your local hospital emergency number or go straight to the emergency room.

How can I get the address and driving directions to the location of my appointment?

Please click on the “Locations” bar on our home page and you will find driving instructions to our clinic locations in Spencer, Emmetsburg, Estherville and Spirit Lake.

Will an X-ray be completed at my appointment?

If an X-ray diagnostic test is ordered by our physician, all of our sites are equipped to take X-ray images at the time of your evaluation. The X-ray will be interpreted by one of our physicians during your clinic visit.

What is an MRI scan and will I need one?

For diagnostic purposes, MRI scanners use magnetism and radio waves to produce remarkably clear pictures of bones, soft tissues and organs. If an MRI scan is ordered by our practitioners, we will schedule your scan for your convenience. One option for your scan is the Spencer Open MRI, a unique C-shaped MRI with easy side entry. In most MRI scans at Spencer Open MRI, the patient’s head remains outside of the magnet, easing feelings of anxiety and providing open comfort for the duration of the test.
